Kmart decorate it forward

As a member of Smiley360 i was able to participate in their Kmart decorate it forward mission. For this mission i was given a $15 Kmart gift card. I love shopping at Kmart they always have amazing deals and lots of choices for toys, clothes, super cute shoes, housewares, and especially decorations for the holidays. I have found quite a few items that i have not seen anywhere else while shopping for gifts or random things for my house. They always have amazing deals and a large selection to choose from at affordable prices.

As soon as i got my gift card i made a plan to go shopping ! I mean who dont like shopping and especially when its free ! I know i do. So me and the hubby and the kiddos went on a shopping trip. Our local Kmart didnt have very much christmas stuff out just yet when we went but there was still a great selection. We dont normally decorate until the week before christmas ( thats when we get our tree ) so we browsed around and found a lot of great ideas that we wanted to do this year. My husband loved the little porcelain lighted villages, and especially the yard decorations ( you know the big lite up snow men, or santa, and even the reindeer), the kiddos loved seeing all the pretty trees with lights, all the yard decorations as well and especially the train that goes around the tree, as well as all the pretty girly stockings. I can not wait to get our tree and start decorating it.Kmart also offers a rewards program where you can earn points with every purchase that you can use just like cash ( you can earn extra if you shop online) each 1,000 points = $1.00. Whats even better is they are giving one of you a chance to get your own $15 Kmart gift card. So if you are interested please send me a message or comment here on or before Saturday December 1, 2012 by 3:00 pm. it makes it easier for me thanks.

Pecan pie bars

I found this great recipe online and made it.... They are so yummy...

Pecan Pie Bars ( or squares which ever you would like to call them)

Ingredients for the crust:

2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened (I used regulare butter)
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt

For topping:

1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter ( I used regular butter)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup honey
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2 cups chopped pecans ( I used 2 1/2 cups of pecans)

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a 9x13-inch pan with foil, leaving enough for a 2-inch overhang on all sides. ( I used a cookie sheet because i didnt have a big enough baking pan and it worked just fine)
First make the crust by creaming together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Add in the flour and salt and mix until crumbly. ( mine wasn't crumbly for some reason it was more like a dough, I pressed it into the cookie sheet and used a rolling pin to spread it evenly from edged to edge)
Press the crust into the foil-lined pan and bake for 20 minutes ( I baked mine for about 12 mins. you can do which ever you like but mine looked done) until golden brown.

(this is a picture from the site i got the recipe i forgot to take step by step pics, next time i make them i will)
While the crust bakes, prepare the filling by combining the butter, brown sugar, honey and heavy cream in a saucepan and stirring it over medium heat. Simmer the mixture for 1 minute, then stir in the chopped pecans.
(this is a picture from the site i got the recipe i forgot to take step by step pics, next time i make them i will)

Remove the crust from the oven and immediately pour the pecan filling over the hot crust spreading it to cover the entire surface.
Return the pan to the oven and bake an additional 20 minutes.  (mine look done at about 15-17 mins.)minutes.
Remove the pan and allow the bars to fully cool in the pan.
Use the foil overhang to lift out the bars and transfer them to a cutting board. Peel off the foil, slice into bars and serve.
